The Roaring Twenties Speakeasy, Read Softly
After thorough consideration, the Lewiston Library Foundation has decided to make our 2021 “Roaring Twenties Speakeasy” gala a virtual event due to recent spikes in Covid cases and advice received from our local health department regarding large gatherings this fall. We are disappointed that we will not be gathering with our friends at the library in person to celebrate the wonderful addition of our new outdoor event space. However, we want to connect with our supporters by way of a virtual livestream broadcast, a small gift as a token of our appreciation and to follow through on our raffle for the five $1,000 travel vouchers to be used whenever the winners choose. All ticket holders will also be recognized in a large Tribune thank you ad as loyal supporters of the Library. In lieu of our large gathering, we will be offering curb side pickup at the library on October 2nd between 5:30pm and 6:30pm for a fun box with tasty bites and swag to enjoy in your own home during the livestream event that will run from 6:30pm – 7pm. We plan to assign time windows via your email to pick up your box in order to keep the traffic flowing smoothly. Stay tuned for that information. The B-sides band that inspired dancing at our 2019 Gala will be playing as you join the parade of supporters picking up their box. For a little added fun there will be three additional winners that receive a surprise gift if their box contains one of the secret “speakeasy” messages. In addition, anyone who hasn’t seen the new outdoor event space and would like a short tour of the new addition will have an opportunity to a guided visit if they are vaccinated and masked. Those interested will receive a designated time to take the tour at the same time they pick up their box. After the boxes have been picked up, the livestream event will begin at 6:30pm and the Foundation Board members will pick the five $1,000 raffle winners to receive travel vouchers at 7pm as our livestream comes to an end. If you do not wish to receive a box or the link to our livestream raffle, please let us know if you want your ticket purchase to go toward support for the library or if you wish a refund.
