Idaho Gives on May 2nd

What if you could make an enormous difference with a simple gesture, potentially helping us to win $1,000 or more, by donating as little as $10 to Lewiston Library Foundation? You’d probably say that’s a great investment. On May 2, Idaho Gives day, you’ll have that chance. And people across Idaho will have the opportunity to help raise more than half a million dollars for a wide variety of deserving nonprofits, including the Lewiston Library Foundation.

Idaho Gives is an event. It’s a movement. It’s a way to focus people’s attention on the important work that nonprofits do in our communities and inspire people to enable our work through their generous donations.Idaho Gives is working to create a stronger nonprofit network for Idaho by casting the spotlight on nonprofits all across the state during a single, 24-hour period.

So, on May 2nd, follow this link: Idaho Gives: Lewiston Library Foundation (or go to www.IdahoGives.org, search for Lewiston Library Foundation), and follow the instructions to make a donation. Your support makes an enormous difference in our ongoing work!

A Long Journey

In 1977, our current Lewiston City library moved into its temporary space on Thain Road. Fast forward through years of searches for a permanent space and massive collaboration between individuals, businesses and city officials and we land at November 2012 – just months away from opening the doors of our new library.

Our community rallied together – nearly 900 individual and business donors – hundreds more have given their time and talents. You put your community first – made sacrifices in your own budget – and we thank you for that support. Now we ask that you consider helping again to ensure that our community will be stronger for future generations.

Our library is funded through its first floor renovation – we need your help to finish the job. Important pieces like a large meeting room, study, reference, genealogy and special collection areas are drawn for the second floor – we are committed to seeing this project through to completion.

Turn Your Stormwater Fee Refund Into a Lasting Legacy

The City of Lewiston will be sending out stormwater fee refund checks the first week of June. Please consider donating your refund to the Library Foundation to help us finish the remodel of our library!

You can:

Sign the back of your refund check and write “Payable to Lewiston Library Foundation” and send it to PO Box 1055, Lewiston, ID 83501 – OR -
Cash your refund check and send the funds to the Library Foundation or via our Donate button here on our website

Every Child Ready to Read

Learn how to use books, programs and other resources at your library to prepare your pre-schooler for reading success. Pre-register by March 5 for this free six week workshop at the Community Center, beginning March 14 at 6pm and continuing each Wednesday evening through April 18. Registration forms may be picked up at the library. Questions, contact Heather at 743-6519 x-106.

Food For Fines

“End Hunger Games” is the theme for this year’s Food for Fines program. During March 12-24, each non-perishable food item donated will eliminate $1.00 of Lewiston City Library overdue fines and will get your name into the Reaping (a drawing) for a chance to win a pair of movie passes or “The Hunger Games” Trilogy.

Dine at a Happy Day Restaurant in February

Dine at one of the Lewiston Happy Day restaurants in February and you have the option of adding $1 to your bill to support the Lewiston Library Foundation building campaign. Participating restaurants include Main St Grill, Zany Graze, Southway Pizzeria, Lewiston Taco Time and both Lewiston Arby’s. Go ahead, eat for a great cause!

Hawaiian Holiday Gala

The Lewiston Library Foundation’s sixth annual Gala will be April 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 at the Lewis Clark Plaza in downtown Lewiston. The theme this year is Hawaiian Holiday. Tickets are on sale now for $100 and can be purchased from any board member or at the Tsceminicum Library. The winner of the ticket drawn at the gala will have $5000 to use towards a trip destination of their choice.

Choice hearty hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and soda are included in the price of the ticket. Tickets may be purchased from a library board member, at the library on Thain, by calling Kathy Fellows at 208-743-4470 for ticket delivery, or by calling Sharroll St. Marie at 208-743-2825.

The Foundation has raised almost $100,000 from the past galas with all money going towards the renovation of the former Erb Hardware building in downtown Lewiston – the home of Lewiston’s new library.
