In June 2017, the Library’s second-floor opened to an awe-inspired and energetic crowd of over 1,200 people. Lewiston residents are now discovering and enjoying the benefits of a full-service, twenty-first century library, a strong Library that contributes to the economic, educational and cultural vitality of our city. To ensure vital resources are accessible and available when people need them, the Library continues to seek community help and support for its ongoing operations.
Stepping into a public library today, it is immediately clear libraries are so much more than depositories of books. Interested in passing a little time? Fascinated by science fiction now reality? The library invites everyone to become enthralled with virtual reality and to test drive today’s technologies like 3D printers. Looking to connect with people instead of technology? Join with others at a gathering table or join a lively literary discussion. Our Library is delightfully boisterous at times, but, if you seek solace, the library offers rooms for quiet contemplation and a quick getaway. Reading is still a popular library pastime; the enchantingly comfortable chairs strategically placed in front of large, sunny, warm windows beg for an easy, carefree lounge. Our Library has become this community’s living room, complete with the works of talented local artists all around. Come see it for yourself!
